Our Little Gingerbread House

We were lucky to find this little house which hopefully will become our abode for the next two plus years, being such a small town rentals are not easy to come by. As soon as I stepped into this little house I fell in love with it. It is old and quirky, with chocolate marbled carpet and a lot of wood panelling but sunny and bright with sweet little touches of homeliness left behind by the old lady who owned it before. Jacob and I joke regularly how we feel like two old people in it, pottering around and waiting for the grandchildren to visit!

The first night in the house was a little odd however. Our furniture wasn't arriving till the next morning, so all we had in the house was a rather dodgy air mattress. We felt like squatters. Once our furniture arrived the next morning it was a frenzy of unpacking and organising. Setting up our new home was exciting, and it surprised us both how easily and neatly our furniture suited this new home.

It has been over a month since moving in, and one by one we had sorted the rooms out. They are getting there, it's a project I am happy to continue for some time. But it is our little family home now and we are happy in our little Gingerbread House.

Our fridge was too tall to fit in its little nook so we improvised with these Ikea shelves

*If anyone has any brilliant ideas about what to do about that ugly piece where the fireplace used to be, I'm open to suggestions (until my dreams come true and it can become a working fireplace again!).
